Have you ever followed your heart and left your brain behind? Sounds silly doesn’t it? But, so many do. When I think back to the time when I was single I remembered hearing those exact same words from those who wanted to see me happy with the right guy. “Follow your heart” they’d say and then I would see where following my heart alone would lead me: into compromising situations. These experiences, have taught me that it takes much more than just following your heart to be happy, especially when you’re a Christian.
I wanted to be happy but not at the expense of compromising my faith.
Can you relate? Maybe this is where you’re at? You’re getting to know someone who isn’t a Christian and you’re wishing that he or she could only become one so that you would feel much better about dating them?
SRW, why wish when you can have what your heart desires?
I am a living witness that you don’t have to remain in wishful relationships.
If you’re willing to wait for God’s best (which includes being equally yoked) you can have just that; His best for you.
God wants to speak to your heart so that you could know and follow what the will of your Father is so that you may be equipped to make the right decisions in life. So don’t exclude Him. Seek Him, wait for Him and most importantly follow His leading above your feelings. And when you do this He promises to lead you into all truth and into the way you SHOULD go.
Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Deutoronomy 31:8
The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
