Have you ever been in a situation where you had to choose between two potential courters? One is a Christian and the other isn’t? Well, I believe the best way to know which way to go is to first look at what matters most to you.
Guy #1
John has a high paying job, great smile and a cocky attitude; attributes that you like which caused you to give out your number in the first place. However, the only problem with John is he’s not yet saved. He believes in a higher power but, just not the same high power that you know after accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
Guy #2
Mike has a great job, great smile and a bit shy: attributes that you like but you prefer John’s cocky attitude. Instead of giving him your number you take his. Mike is not bad on the eye’s, respectful and has been a Christian his whole life.
So, what are you going to do? Which guy are you going to consider?
When or if you ever find yourself in a situation like this know that you are to always make your decisions based on God’s Word. Why? Because as Christians His Word, the Bible, is our “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.” (Words that I came across the other day and thought wow, how fitting).
Now, don’t get me wrong choosing to marry a Christian over a non-Christian does not mean that you won’t ever encounter a problem(s) in your marriage; because you will. In fact, you both will not only have to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling as the Word of God say’s, you will also have to work hard on your marriage.
Having been married for almost five years, I am soooooooo glad that I stopped entertaining unsaved men, in time, so that I wouldn’t miss out on marrying one of God’s own. Today, I am experiencing an intimacy with my husband both naturally and spiritually that I know I wouldn’t have gotten had I married a non-Christian.
Do you believe that this is what God has and wants for you?
While John might FEEL like Mr. Right to the flesh, HOLY SPIRIT is flashing GREEN lights, and doing summer-salts in favour of Mike.
My sisters and brothers, what matters most to you? Whose word means more to you?
Should you be in a situation right now where you’re trying to decide which way to go, know that your Father in heaven is hoping that you’d make the right decision by choosing His choice every time.
Signed,
Your dear sister who wants only God’s best for you.
P.S I didn’t share unequally yoked scriptures in this blog because I’m pretty sure that most of you already know what they are. If not, check out the dictionary located at the back of your Bible for scripture references. Happy studying.
